Welcome to the Hover Board Store
The hover board store is a store based on the goal of creating a hover board. A hover board is a floating skateboard without wheels. We will experiment with making our own hover boards using finger skateboards and magnet strips.
A hover board can be made using electromagnets. Using a fingerboard to create a magnetic charge on one side of the fingerboard, we will attach a magnetic strip with the north pole facing down and we will put another strip against a ramp with the north pole facing up. A human scale hoverboard would require an electromagnet to be used on the ramp to have enough force to repel such weight. The two poles will repel each other and cause the board to hover above the ramp. Unfortunately, because of the fact that the north pole and the south pole are so close together, once you come into the slightest of contact with north and south, they will connect and therefore lose the ability for the board to hover.
First you need a finger skateboard. Take off the trucks with the wheels. The trucks are the part that attaches the wheels to the board. Then you need to have a miniature skateboard ramp. You can find this on Amazon. On the ramp, you attach the magnetic strip. You will need to cut the appropriate size for the ramp. You should attach the strip against the wall to help keep the board steady. Do not put it in the middle because the board will not have enough balance. Then stick another magnetic strip to the bottom of the miniature hoverboard (finger skateboard). The magnet should be cut to cover the whole bottom of the board. Then you place the miniature hoverboard on the magnet strip that is on the ramp. This will cause it to hover above the ramp. For the board to hover and move down the ramp, put a small amount of pressure with two fingers on the board and move down the ramp.
